Technology and Toolkit

Word Sweeper was written using Godot, in GDScript. For image editing, GIMP was used. Audacity was used for original sound recording as well as editing.

Corpus and Dictionary

For its corpus (vocabulary), Word Sweeper uses the BNC/COCA headword lists. As such, the list is limited to most common 10.000 words in British English.

Free Dictionary API is used to fetch English language descriptions, while Google Cloud Translation is used to translate found words into device language.

User Interface and Fonts

Word Sweeper uses the Nunito font family for its user interface. This is part of Google's free font library.

AI-Generated Content

Word Sweeper uses material generated by ChatGPT. This includes design of the adventure trail, as well as starting point for a lot of the wording therein. In addition, Google ImageFX and Whisk image generators were used to generate original concepts for background images.
